Historique
- L'Académie Royale des Arts du Canada (ARCA*) a été fondée par l'Ontario Society of Artists, en collaboration avec l'Art Association of Montreal,
- Le but premier de l'Académie étant la promotion des arts visuels, sa première initiative a été de procéder à la fondation du Musée des Beaux-arts du Canada en 1880 à Ottawa.
- La Société a établi deux niveaux de membres : Associé et Académicien.
- Le sigle A.R.C.A. a deux (2) significations:
– 1- En français signifie Association royale des arts du Canada
– 2- En anglais signifie Associate Member Royal Academy Exposition annuelle tenue par l'ARAC
